Groovy Greek Day

24 October 2014

Class 5’s Groovy Greek Day
As soon as I received and read my letter about Greek Day I was buzzing with excitement. The weekend after, I immediately started on my costume. (Ben)

When I woke up it felt like a regular day. I got up, ate my breakfast and put my school uniform on. Then I realised it was Greek Day!! I hurriedly got undressed and got into my Greek costume! Everything happened very quickly after that and suddenly I arrived at school. Standing there in the playground were all my friends dressed like there were completely different people. This was going to be an extraordinary day. (Harry)

Everyone looked AWESOME, and I mean everyone, including the teachers. Dominic had a tunic made out of curtains, lots of boys were hoplite soldiers and Dan had died his hair blue to be Poseidon. (Sebastian)

First of all we had to see how many words we could make from ‘Ancient Greece’. I found 20 and I came second in the class. (Sam)

An expert called Melvyn came in and taught us loads about the Greek gods and what their names were in Greek. We even learnt how to write our own names in Greek! We made some amazing masks of characters from Zeus to Medusa, Hydra to the Minotaur. (Dan)

In the afternoon we prepared some Greek foods. We made Greek Island Salad with Avocado, Tzatziki, Feta cheese Filo triangles (these were my favourite) and honey and Yoghurt. We tasted them all and agreed they were yummy, although some of us didn’t like the olives.

All in all this was the best school day ever!! (Afton)
