Footprints Theatre Company

21 November 2014

On Monday 17th November Class 2 had a visit from Steve Stickley of Footprints Theatre Company. We were all very excited to hear the dream story of Tiddlik the Toad. This is an Australian Aboriginal story which we are learning about as part of our Australia Topic this term.

We really enjoyed the story which Steve acted out with the aid of a didgeridoo and a rhythm stick. The story tells us about Tiddalik the Toad who was very thirsty and drank all the water from the rivers, streams and ponds. The other animals were very angry because they had nothing left to drink so they made a plan to get the water back. The wombat suggested that they should try to make Toad laugh so that he opened his mouth to let the water out, so they all tried telling jokes and being silly, but nothing worked. Unfortunately they woke up the platypus who came out to see what all the noise was about. Tiddalik had never seen such a ridiculous looking animal and as soon as he saw it he began to laugh. The waters were returned, the animals were happy and Platypus was a hero.
