Marvellous Maths in Class 5

Marvellous Maths in Class 5

In class 5, we have been doing lots of problem solving in maths. We carried out an investigation to find out how tall Class 5 would be, if we all stood on top of each other. We used our measuring skills first of all and then used column addition to add the measurements together. We all worked really hard but it was also a lot of fun!...

Vikings Trip

Vikings Trip

Class 5 had a fantastic day at The University of Nottingham! In the morning we learnt about place names in Nottinghamshire which originate from Old English and Old Norse, made our own Viking burial scene, wrote secret messages in Runes and got to touch and use some Viking weapons and armour!
Then in the afternoon we were allowed to handle artefacts from the Museum and found out what they would have been used for. We found the earwax scoop particularly interesting!
In all great day out and we ...

Fair's Fair - Food around the World

Fair's Fair - Food around the World

We looked at the labels on fruit and found out the country they came from then we used atlases to locate the country and put markers on our map.
It was really interesting to find out where food on our supermarket shelves came from and the miles they would have travelled to get there.
Later in the week we will be making our very own smoothies which you will be able to taste at our Big Fairtrade Breakfast on Friday!

Prayer Encounter

Prayer Encounter

We had a really good time at the 'Prayer Encounter' experience. We were prompted to think about situations in our world which are not fair. We prayed for children with dirty drinking water and wrote our messages in a bottle. Then we had a go at making a paper bag, some of us found it a bit tricky and we were grateful we didn't have to make them all day like some children. We also took time to consider whether we had been unfair towards others and had time to reflect and say sorry to God.
It wa...
