Class 4 Roman Army

This week Class 4 put their Roman shields to use and pretended to be Legion 4 of the Roman Army.
Mrs Norris was the Centurion and shouted commands in Latin.
We used our shields to make the TESTUDO or 'tortoise' formation with our shields. The Romans used this to protect them from spears and arrows....

Tideswell Dale Explorers

Class 4 had a fantastic, sunny day exploring the glorious Peak District. We became 'Dales Explorers' for the day, finding out how the Dales have been created over time and searching for bugs and plants.
The sun shone all day as we looked for evidence of fossils, rocks and the path of the water.
We wobbled across the crystal clear stream and went into a small cave, where we touched the damp walls and saw the stalactites forming on the roof.

Welcome back to a new term in Class 4! Fortunately the sun shone on us as most of us chose to wear our summer uniforms this week.

Beat Feet Drumming - Class 4

“I love chocolate cake, I love chocolate cake…” No, not the staff room mantra, but one of the catchy hooks which Y4 sang and played out on their Djembe’s in their African drumming workshop lead by Jude from Beat Feet.
The children had a very noisy afternoon putting science into action: feeling vibrations and changing the volume and pitch as we learnt how to play polyrhythmic beats, conduct and sing African songs.
