Archaeological Glory!

I can’t quite believe I am saying this but we found some artefacts! I was not expecting anyone to find anything other than bricks and pottery, but we actually found four Stone Age artefacts. We all got assigned jobs including digging, raking and sieving through the excavated earth and, after excavating to the depth of approximately two feet we began to uncover some breath-taking discoveries. Fortunately we had Mr Challis-Smith, who is a real archaeologist, helping us, so our finds were examined and we were told roughly what period of prehistory each item originated and what they would have been used for.
We all quickly became overwhelmed with excitement and the excavation process sped up drastically. When we returned, wet and muddy, to the classroom, we set about building an inventory containing all of the artefacts we found.
Throughout the week we looked at newspaper reports, as we were so keen to tell the world of our amazing discovery. By Friday afternoon, we had produced thirty high quality news articles. Here is an example:
